If you teach elementary or secondary school and meet the following

forgiveness.
1. You must have taught full-time for five complete, consecutive
qualifying years at an eligible Title I school (as determined by
the U.S. Department of Education).
2. You must be a new borrower of Stafford loans as of October 1,
1998.
3. If your loan is in default, you must have made satisfactory
repayment arrangements with your loan holder.
The Am I Eligible for Teacher Loan Forgiveness brochure
provides a list of additional requirements and explains how you may
qualify. This brochure is available in English and
Spanish.
You may download the application and forbearance forms and view a
list of low-income
schools eligible for Stafford loan cancellation. You can check
the status of your Stafford loans through NSLDS.
